Italian pianist Paolo André Gualdi has performed widely across the United States and abroad, appearing at major venues and festivals including Cadogan Hall (UK); Assisi Suono Sacro (Italy); Musée Würth (France); Xinghai Hall (China); Theatro da Paz, Theatro São Pedro, and Fundação Oscar Americano (Brazil); Teatro Solís and SODRE (Uruguay); as well as the International Piano Series of Charleston, the American Liszt Society, and the Piatigorsky Foundation (USA). He has appeared as soloist with orchestras such as the Orquestra Sinfônica de Porto Alegre, Georgia Philharmonic, and Orquestra Sinfônica do Theatro da Paz. His recordings are available on Mark Records and IFO Classics, and his performances have been broadcast by BBC Radio, Radio Nacional Uruguay, Clásica 650, and Radio Vaticana.

Gualdi began piano studies at the age of five with his father and later continued at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome with Carmela Pistillo. He earned the Piano Diploma with highest honors at the Conservatorio “Arrigo Boito” in Parma under Roberto Cappello. In the United States, he completed a Master of Music degree at Carnegie Mellon University and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Georgia. His principal teachers include Carlo Maria Dominici, Enrique Graf, and Evgeny Rivkin, and he has participated in master classes with György Sándor, Earl Wild, Sergio Perticaroli, and Menahem Pressler.

Winner of numerous competitions, Gualdi received top prizes at the European Competition of Ostuni, the Altruda National Competition, and the Françoise Grimaldi International Competition. He was awarded the “De Martino Prize” at the Ibla International Piano Competition and continued his studies at Elon University with Victoria Fischer, where he went on to win First Prize at the 15th Bartók–Kabalevsky International Competition.

A sought-after pedagogue, Gualdi has given master classes and lectures at universities and conservatories around the world, including the New World School of the Arts, Stetson University, and the College of Charleston (USA); the Federal Universities of Porto Alegre, Santa Maria, and Campinas (Brazil); the University of Shanghai (China); LASALLE College of the Arts (Singapore); and the Cittadella della Musica (Italy), among others. He has held faculty appointments at Elon University, Emmanuel College, and Oxford College of Emory University. He is the founder and artistic director of the South Carolina Chamber Music Festival and currently serves as Professor of Music at Francis Marion University and as a faculty member at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
